Here's the good and the wet weather news: One more nice day was on tap Wednesday. Then things are going to change.

A storm system moving due east from central and Southern California will bring increasing clouds by Wednesday night to northern Utah. It will be cloudy Thursday with rain likely later in the day. There's a 50 percent chance of rain showers in northern Utah valleys, and the mountains should get some snow. But it looks as if the brunt of the storm may hit southern Utah, although the north will not fare too badly either, said William J. Alder, meteorologist in charge of the Salt Lake office of the National Weather Service.

Some southern mountain areas could receive heavy snow, especially Thursday and Friday.
