Utah-Arlond Taylor Christensen, age 76, died Monday, February 25, 1991.
He was born January 14, 1915 at Preston, Idaho to Oswald H. and Nettie Taylor Christensen. He married Ruth Kent October, 1938 in Washington D.C.; the marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple June 7, 1939.Reared and educated in Rexburg, Idaho, Mr. Christensen was a graduate of Ricks College and also attended George Washington University. He lived in Washington D.C. where he was employed by the FBI. He managed a movie theater in Richfield, Utah nearly 20 years, managed KBLI radio in Blackfoot and was affiliated with KGVO in Missoula, Montana. He lived in Denver, Colorado in 1956 where he was employed by the government. In 1959 he moved to Kaysville, Utah and in 1964 he moved to Bountiful, Utah before coming to St. George, Utah in 1988.
As an active member of the LDS Church, Mr. Christensen served an LDS mission to Great Britain and later filled a mission with his wife in Philadelphia, 1982-83. He had served as a missionary on Temple Square for 8 years. He also served as Superintendent of Sunday School, taught Sunday School, MIA and was Priest's advisor. Mr. Christensen was a president of JayCees and enjoyed sports, golf and bowling and had climbed the Grand Tetons.
Surviving family members include his wife, Ruth, St. George; two daughters, Mrs. Karen Lee, Kaysville; Mrs. Terry "Shanna" Hugie, Logan; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harlod T. Christensen, LaJolla, California. One daughter, Arlene Crawley, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Saturday, March 2, 1991, at the Lindquist Mortuary Chapel, 727 North 400 East, Bountiful, where friends may call Friday, from 6-8 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Bountiful City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary, St. George.
