Three games were decided by a final margin of two points or fewer in Wednesday's opening round of the UHSAA-First Security Bank 3A girls prep basketball state tournament.

One of those three nailbiters included the upset of a top-seeded team, as Ogden topped Region 6's Murray 50-49.Ogden 50, Murray 49: Down 30-22 at the half, the Tigers took control with a 16-5 third quarter against the Spartans. Mary Giles' 16 points included 8-of-10 from the line, while Ogden teammate Pam Price added 12 points. Julianna Tanner paced Murray with a 20-point performance.

Bear River 58, Dixie 50: Bear River allowed Dixie just eight points in each of the first two periods en route to a 34-16 halftime lead. Chalyce Stevens scored 24 points and Tina Hunsaker 13 for Bear River; Lynette McArthuer and Tina McArthur each tallied 11 for the Flyers.

Emery County 47, Judge Memorial 30: Holding the Lady Bulldogs to seven points or fewer in three different quarters, the Spartans cruised to a solid 27-17 halftime margin. Stephanie Snow and Tasha Bradley each finished with 12 for Emery; Kris Thompson led Judge with 9 points.

Springville 46, Sky View 36: The defending 3A champions managed just 4-of-17 shooting from the line, but held Sky View to 5 and 3 points in the first two periods for a 27-8 cushion at intermission. Stacey MacArthur had 18 points and Tara Jensen 15 for Springville.

Logan 52, Cedar City 50: The Grizzlies had opened up a wide enough margin through the first three quarters to barely hold off Cedar's 22-11 scoring edge in the final period. Cori Jensen finished with 17 and Shelly Whitteker 15 for Logan, while Michelle Holyoak's 15 points included one of Cedar's three treys.

Jordan 42, Carbon 40: Jordan overcome single-digit scoring in the first and third quarters to log the two-point triumph. Nikki Epperson had 14 points and Marti Callister 11 for Jordan, while Carbon's team-best scoring was a 21-point effort by Staci Myers.

Pine View 64, Box Elder 59: The Panthers extended a one-point halftime advantage to a six point lead by outscoring the Bees 19-13 in the third period. Nikki Shaheen's 16 points and Brenda Huddleston's 10 were tops among the 10 Pine View players who scored. Tany Stokes finished with 18 and Erika Merrill 11 for Box Elder.

Uintah 58, Bountiful 36: In the first round's biggest blowout, the Lady Utes had posted a 12-4 lead after the first quarter alone. Carissa Barker scored 20 points and Linda Emmett 12 to lead four Uintah players in double figures. Nikki Hanni and Kim Reimann each tossed in 11 points for Bountiful.
