"Majestic Canada" is the theme of 11-day trips being sponsored June through September by Brennan Tours, the Joseph Vance Building, Suite 717, 1402 Third Ave., Seattle, Wash. 98101. The tours visit Seattle, Victoria, Vancouver, Whistler, Jasper, Banff, Lake Louise and Penticton.

Sightseeing activities include a cruise through Puget Sound and the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Butchart Gardens, a cruise through the Gulf Islands, the Capilano Suspension Bridge, a train ride to 100 Mile House, Mount Robson, Peyto Lake, a gondola ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain, Emerald Lake, Valley of the Ten Peaks, Moraine Lake and national parks.Cost is from $1,529 to $1,629, per person, double occupancy, excluding air fare. Accommodations, 10 breakfasts, one lunch and nine dinners, local transportation and transfer and tipping for one piece of luggage per person are part of the price.


The University of California, Berkeley, is seeking volunteers July 8-21 for an expedition to Fort Peck, Mont., to excavate, clean and repair fossil specimens, sieve rocks for tiny fossils and collect large dinosaur bones. Field work will be on the Hell Creek beds near Fort Peck, which is located on the high plains desert of northeastern Montana.

The rolling hills and dry gulches of the area are part of the landscape known to cowboys and early pioneers as the Missouri Breaks. Days are hot and dry, with cool nights. Team members will stay in cabins on the eastern shore of the Fort Peck Reservoir, where there is access to water recreation. Prospecting trips will involve hiking two to four miles over sloping terrain.

Work will be under the jurisdiction of the University Research Expeditions Program, University of California, Berkeley, Calif. 94720. Participants, who will assemble in Glasgow, Mont., are being asked to contribute $1,185 toward the trip.
