A Farmington man died Monday evening from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, outside the Provo LDS Temple grounds, Police Sgt. Kim Nisson said.

A passer-by discovered the body of Gary D. Lambert, 21, leaning against a fence around the perimeter of the Provo Temple around 8:30 p.m., Nisson said. A 30-86 rifle was found near Lambert's body.Lambert was a student at Brigham Young University.
