A Hill Air Force Base sergeant faces life in prison after pleading guilty to raping a teenage girl, one of five charges filed against him.
Larry J. Frans, 44, an Air Force munitions specialist, pleaded guilty to the first-degree felony rape charge and a count of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony, in 2nd District Court.Frans faces a prison term of five years to life on the rape charge and an additional term of one to 15 years on the sexual exploitation charge.
Charges of forcible sodomy, also a first-degree felony, forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony, and dealing in harmful material to a minor, a third-degree felony, were dismissed in return for his guilty plea to the two charges.
Frans pleaded not guilty Jan. 2 to all five charges and was scheduled for trial Friday. He pleaded guilty to the two felonies at a pre-trial hearing Tuesday.
