The March meeting of the Salt Lake Council of Women will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 4, in the second floor meeting room at the Salt Lake Public Library.
The citizenship committee will present speaker Stacy Bess, director of the shelter school for the homeless. Bess, a graduate of the University of Utah, gained national recognition in holding school for the homeless - Utah being the first state to attempt such a program.The citizenship committee has visited the shelter several times, providing refreshments and activities for the children.
Committee chairwoman is Mary Pizza; vice chairwomen are Virginia Martin and Ida Olsen; with committee members Lois Berensen, Violet Corkle, Ruth Marsh, Dora Nunnelly, Shirley Otteson and Lucille Ozer. Board sponsor is Ruth Ellen Rands.
During the February meeting of the council, members were selected to be on the nominating committee. They are: Ruth Miller from the executive board; Gladys Walz and Frances Cromwell from the advisory board; and Ruth Orlob, Shirley Otteson, Ruth Pexton and Orlene Peterson.
