Four Sanpete County men who pleaded guilty to bombing a Mt. Pleasant home Oct. 31 have received jail terms and fines.
Ricky Goble, 20, Mt. Pleasant; Jon L. Cook, 18, Fountain Green; Thomas A. Davis, 19, Wales, and Heath Cook, 18, Moroni, were charged with a third-degree felony and a Class A misdemeanor in connection with the bombing.Sixth District Judge Don V. Tibbs reduced the felony charge to a Class A misdemeanor and then sentenced the men to a year in the Sanpete County Jail on each count, to run concurrently, and a $2,500 fine on each count.
He then reduced the jail sentences to six months with the right to review after 60 days and the fines to $1,000.
The four are also required to pay restitution determined by Adult Probation and Parole. They had pleaded guilty at their indictment to having placed an acetylene bomb at the home of Mark Bezzant, principal of North Sanpete High School.
The blast blew out a basement window, damaged a chain-link fence and badly frightened the Bezzant family.
That incident followed acts of vandalism and harassment that caused Bezzant to resign his position.
Shortly after the bombing, the Bezzants moved to Utah County.
