Students at the University of Utah College of Law plan a three-day fund-raising effort to help feed Salt Lake-area homeless.

Students are being asked to skip lunch on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, March 12, 13 and 14, and donate the money saved to Phi Delta Phi, a national legal fraternity. On March 15, local Phi Delta Phi members will present a check to the St. Vincent de Paul Center, 427 W. 200 South.

"We recognize that the homeless shelter needs the community's help all year round, not just during the holiday season," said Michael Finley, fraternity president. "We want to give law students the chance to do their part."

The fraternity is encouraging competition among the three law classes at the school. A "donation thermometer" will be posted in the College of Law foyer to measure daily donations.
