The Southern Utah University Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery is currently hosting the 50th annual Cedar City art exhibit.

The annual art show was initiated by the Cedar City junior high school art faculty in 1940 and has been held yearly, except for 1944, during the height of World War II. As the show became more established, the Cedar City Coordinating Council appointed a fine-arts committee to handle the annual show and to acquire a permanent art collection.Instead of the regular showing, "Exhibition 50 - Golden Anniversary" will feature the art works that the CCAC has acquired over the years, nearly 70 pieces. Many of the works have been exhibited locally in places such as the Cedar City Public Library and Valley View Medical Center.

During the exhibit period, which runs through March 29, the CCAC, in conjunction with the PTAs of various Iron County schools, is planning to hold special "teas" for school children.

The CCAC is a non-profit organization which operates through grants and support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Utah Arts Council, Iron County, Cedar City, the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce, SUU, Iron County School District and private businesses and citizens.
