The Irish folk group Barley Bree will join the Utah Symphony for its annual Irish Night concert Monday, March 11, at 8 p.m. in Symphony Hall.

Conducted as in past years by Harold M. Gottfredson (the "M" standing for Mayo), this year's program will present the orchestra in an array of traditional jigs, reels and gallops, as well as a suite of Irish film music. Included will be arrangements of "Garry Owen," "An Coulin" and "The Wild Colonial Boy."Joining in the celebration will be the McTeggart Irish Dancers - Gina and Vanessa Gottfredson and Jenny and Lisa Riding - along with the three members of Barley Bree, Tom and Jimmy Sweeney and P.V. O'Donnell.

Formed in Ireland in 1975, the trio relocated to North America three years later. The following year they were offered their own television series in Canada, "Barley Bree in Concert," followed by tours across the United States and Canada. They have recorded six albums to date, the latest being "Anthem for the Children," a plea for peace and hope among the children of Ireland.

Monday, combining three-part harmony and driving instrumentals with stories, poems and a touch of Irish laughter, they will be heard in "Galway Races," "Gypsy Rover" and a salute to the Clancy Brothers.
