James R. Stewart, a long time resident of Salt Lake City, died Monday, February 25, 1991 in Chico, California, after a long illness.

Born December 6, 1909, to Ralph and Mary Effie Mitchell Stewart. Employed at the Deseret News as a photographer and writer, later moved to California, where he was a photographer at the San Francisco Examiner for 22 years, prior to retiring in 1965.Survived by his wife of 50 years, Florence Williams Stewart, Chico, California; son, Edward, of San Diego, Calif.; two daughters, Ellen Vincent, Chico; Jeri Shellnut, Chester, California. Also survived by two sisters, Mrs. William J. Harvey, Mrs. Ray Stout, both Salt Lake City; three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Greater North Valley Chapter, PO Box 3148, Paradise, California, 95967. Arrangements were under the direction of the Neptune Society of Chico.
