Premier Medical Network, 2180 S. 1300 East, a preferred provider organization that contracts with hospitals and physicians to offer a managed health-care delivery system to Utah employers, has signed contracts with six companies that brought in 12,000 new enrollees to the company.

The largest employer is Utah Power & Light Co., with almost 8,100 employees and dependents. PMN's hospitals and physicians will provide care for members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 57, which consists of 77 percent of the utility's employees.The Utah Sheet Metal Workers, Nucor Steel's Brigham City Plant, Medical Review Institute of America, Deer Valley Lodging and Peerless Beauty Supply also have signed with PMN.

PMN's organized health-care system is designed to work in conjunction with various types of employer health plans to reduce costs without reducing health benefits or without compromising the quality of care patients receive, PMN officials said.
