John Clifton Linford, 88, passed away Sunday, March 10, 1991 at his home.
He was born March 25, 1902 in Kaysville, Utah, a son of John George and Mary E. Bodily Linford. He married Ruth Walker June 1, 1931 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She passed away June 1, 1989. He had been a dairy and cattle man most of his life. He was a lifelong resident of Kaysville, he attended Kaysville public schools and graduated from Davis High School.He held many leadership positions in the LDS Church including Sunday School teacher, President of the Elders Quorum, Superintendent of the Sunday School, Kaysville Stake High Councilman, he was also the chairman for 18 years of the management and operation for the Kaysville and Davis Stake Farm. He served as secretary in the High Priest Group, Kaysville 16th Ward.
He was honored in 1986 by Kaysville City and Fruit Heights communities for a life time of community service in recognition of the following contributions: He was the chairman of the Ration Board; he was a Kaysville City Councilman for seven years; He served as Mayor of Kaysville for 10 years; he was the chairman of the Central Sewer Board; he was the director of the Weber Basin Water Conservancy District for 17 years, and chairman for two years; he was also director of Haights Creek Irrigation Company. He was a charter member of the Kaysville Rotary Club.
Survived by two sons and two daughters, John R. and wife Caryol Linford, Broomfield, Colo.; Dr. Keith W. and wife Diane Linford, Ogden; Carol L. and husband James R. Elder, of Gilbert, Ariz.; Kathy L. and husband Stephen M. Holt, Bountiful; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother and two sisters, Myron B. Linford, Kaysville; Leone Linford, San Francisco, Calif.; and Breta L. Dotson, Paradise, Calif. Preceded in death by a brother, Howard B. (Tuff) Linford; and sister, Artell Lindford.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, at 11 a.m., in the Kaysville 16th Ward Chapel, 50 West 300 South. Friends may call Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at the Kaysville City Municipal Building, 23 East Center Street, and also Wednesday at the ward, from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Kaysville City Cemetery.
