Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, teacher and friend, Nellee Jean Abraham Wood Woodland, age 61, passed away peacefully March 10, 1991, at her home in Salt Lake City, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Nellee Jean Abraham was born May 29, 1929, in Kanosh Utah, the daughter of James and Edna Hunt Abraham. She married Frank S. Woodon December 17, 1954 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple: he preceded her in death in October 1965. She married Marlin P Woodland on July 21, 1966 in the Logan LDS Temple. Graduated from East High, the University of Utah with a BA in Education, and Utah State with her MA in Education. She taught in the Uintah , Lakeridge and Hillview elementary schools; she was voted Outstanding Educator for the Granite School District, 1988. A screener for the Irlen Institute, public speaker and seminar lecturer, she traveled to Russia in 1989 as part of a teacher exchange program. Active in the LDS Church she held many positions of service, including Stake Missionary, Young Women's President and youth advisor. Nellee was a kind and loving individual who was devoted to her family; she was held in high esteem by all who knew her. Nellee's passing saddens our hearts and leaves a great void in our lives.Survivors include her husband Marlin, of Salt Lake City; two sons and six daughters, Christine (and Marco) Rossi, Ruth (and Thomas) Metcalf, James F (and Christine) Wood, Robert A. Wood, Elizabeth Woodland, Edie Woodland and Karen (and Christopher) Sharp all from Salt Lake City, and Kathryn (and Gregory Scott) Hayden, of La Grande,Oregon; eight grandsons; seven granddaughters; two sisters Jackie (and Virgil) Parker, Orem and Helen (and Paul) Morris, Salt Lake City; and a lone surviving aunt, Margaret Hunt Jepson, Grass Valley, Calif.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 13th, 12 noon, at the East Mill Creek Second Ward, 3750 So. Hillside Lane (2500 East), with Bishop Clifford E. Birkeland officiating. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Funeral Directors: The Holbrook Funeral Chapel.
