John Phillip Hanks Matuauto, age 29, our beloved husband, father, son and brother, died March 10, 1991, after a valiant battle with leukemia.
Born February 3, 1962 in Apia, Western Samoa, to Fotulafi and Faalili Titipa Matuauto. Married Michelle Fogg, June 21, 1985 in the St. George LDS Temple. Graduated from South High School. Attended Dixie College where he was a football player. Filled LDS Mission to London, England. His love and devotion for his Heavenly Father has taken him where he is needed to fulfill another mission. He spent many hours doing temple work at the Jordan River LDS Temple. He loved serving his Father in Heaven. Phil's love for sunsets has left us with a gift that will remind us of him forever. He truly was a man of God.Survived by his wife, Michelle; son, Demetrius; daughter, Tanisha, all of Sandy; father, Fotu; stepmother, Aipopo; sisters, Sose and Situao, both West Valley City; brother, Puatua, Oahu, Hawaii; mother-in-law, Cherie Fogg, Sandy; in-laws, Karl and Kristine Perschon, Sandy; Brad and Tami Fogg, Woodland Hills, California; Patrick and Teri Lee Flynn, Marietta, Ohio; Dave and Nicole Slivers, Sandy; special aunt, Sipuao, Salt Lake City; six aunts and one uncle; many nieces, nephews and special friends.
Funeral services Thursday, March 14, 1991, 11 a.m., Midvalley 4th Ward, 1211 East 7800 South. Friends may call Wednesday evening 6-8 p.m. at MacKay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, and Thursday, one hour prior to services at the ward.
