Jeanine Michealsen blocked a 3-point shot at the buzzer, preserving James Madison's 73-71 upset Saturday over No. 1 Penn State in the second round of NCAA women's tournament.

The Dukes (26-4) trailed 11-0 in the game's first 41/2 minutes and were down 41-29 at halftime before storming back. They outscored Penn State 18-6 in the first seven minutes of the second half - while Atlantic 10 player of the year Susan Robinson was on the bench with three fouls - to tie the game at 47.Penn State (29-2) was the top seed in the East Regional and playing on its home court.

N.C. St. 94, Geo. Washington 83

At Raleigh, N.C., Rhonda Mapp scored 27 points and Andrea Stinson added 20 as second-seeded North Carolina State defeated George Washington 94-83 in a second-round game of the NCAA East Regional.

Clemson 103, Providence 91

At Clemson, S.C., Jackie Farmer had a record 29 rebounds and 20 points as fourth-seeded Clemson beat fifth-seeded Providence 103-91 in the second round of the NCAA East Regional tournament.

Connecticut 81, Toledo 80

At Storrs, Conn., Kerry Bascom scored a career-high 39 points, including a three-point play with 19 seconds left, to give No. 13 Connecticut an 81-80 victory over Toledo in an NCAA East second-round game.

Mideast Regional

W.Kentucky 72, Florida St. 69

At Bowling Green, Ky., Paulette Monroe scored 17 points and Lisa Lang made two free throws with 11 seconds left, and Western Kentucky beat Florida State 72-69 in the second round of the women's NCAA Mideast Regional.

Tennessee 55, SW Missouri St. 47

At Knoxville, Tenn., Daedra Charles had 25 points, 22 rebounds and five blocked shots in leading top-seeded Tennessee to a 55-47 victory over Southwest Missouri State in the second round of the NCAA women's Mideast Regional.

Midwest Regional

Arkansas 105, Northwestern 68

At Fayetteville, Ark., Amber Nicholas and Delmonica DeHorney keyed a 25-4 first-half run that carried ninth-ranked Arkansas to a victory over Northwestern in the second round of the NCAA Midwest Regional women's basketball tournament.

Okla. St. 96, Michigan St. 94

At Stillwater, Okla., Liz Brown hit an 18-foot jumper shot with three seconds left in triple overtime to lift Oklahoma State to a victory over Michigan State in the second round of the NCAA Midwest Regional.

West regional

Georgia 86, UNLV 62

At Athens, Ga., Stacy Ford scored 32 points, leading lead No. 3 Georgia to an 86-62 victory over No. 17 UNLV in the second round of the NCAA West Regional.
