Robert Garland Maddox, 58, of Forest, Virginia departed this life Sunday evening, March 17, 1991 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was the cherished husband of June Puckette Maddox. Born in Lynchburg, Virginia, January 25, 1933. He was the son of the late John Edward and Beulah Wright Maddox. He was employed at Virginia Fibre Corp. for the past 16 years and previously employed by the Mead Corp.He had been an active member of the United States Power Squadron and was a strong advocate for safe boating.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Deborah Haslam and son-in-law, Dennis B. Haslam, Salt Lake City; son, Robert Timothy Maddox and daughter-in-law, Beverly Keesee Maddox, Lynchburg, Virginia; grandsons, Robert Carter Haslam and Kyle Lee Maddox; step-grandsons, Peter Dale Haslam, Michael Keesee; brothers, Ray O., Lynchburg, Donald Lee, Rustburg; sisters, Kaye Hartlefs, Lynchburg, Virginia; number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by a brother, John Edward Maddox, Jr.

Bob was a great source of strength and love to his family and was a exceptional husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be very deeply missed by us all.

Family and friends will be received at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel Wednesday evening March 20, from 7-9 p.m. A private family service will be held Thursday. Memorials may be made to the Patrick Henry Boy's Home, Route #2 Box 125, Brookneal, Virginia, 24528.
