James Banasky, age 58, died February 28, 1991, at his home.

Born September 5, 1932, Standardville, Utah, son of Gerald and Katie Mildred Nielsen Banasky. Married Beverly Beard September 23, 1955, in Midvale, Utah. Lifelong resident, Carbon-Emery Counties. Member, Carbon Lodge #16, F & AM.James Banasky graduated from Carbon High School and Carbon College, where he was student body president. He later graduated University of Utah. While attending the University of Utah, Jim was instrumental in referendum campaign to stop the closure of Carbon and Snow Colleges.

Jim loved serving his community, and has been an appreciated civic leader for many years. In 1963, he was appointed vice president and manager, Greenriver Branch of Helper State Bank. While living in Greenriver, he organized the WBBA Little League, served on Greenriver Medical Center Committee as chairman for 15 years. Played a key role in obtaining the funding and supervising the construction of the new Greenriver Medical Center. As a respected businessman, he worked for 35 years in the insurance industry in Carbon and Emery County. He was a member of the EUI, Inc. Jim was very concerned with the education system. He served on the Emery County School Board for 12 years, and was a member of the Utah School Board Association for Higher Education. He was alumni president of the College of Eastern Utah, and served on CEU's Institutional Council. He accomplished many other civic, professional honors. He will be dearly missed by everyone.

He's survived by: His wife, Beverly, two sons, one daughter and their spouses, J.D. and Pam Banasky, Scott Banasky, all Price; Joni and Brent Pace, Salt Lake City; four grandchildren, Karla Kay, Brent August, and Rockford James Pace, and Ryan James Banasky; brother, Gerald (Pete) and Margaret Banasky, Coalville, Utah. Preceded in death by parents, and a son, Charles Mark.

Funeral services Monday, 11 a.m., Price North LDS Stake Center, 449 North 1st East. Friends may call Mitchell Chapel Saturday and Sunday prior to services. Family will be at Mitchell's Sunday evening, 6 to 8 p.m., and at the church Monday, one hour prior to services. Graveside services will be performed by Carbon Lodge #16 F & AM, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper. In lieu of flowers, memorials for James Banasky Scholarship Fund, at College of Eastern Utah, C/O 1st Interstate Bank, 82 West Man Street, Price, Utah, 84501.
