Marty Howard of Spinner Fall Fly Shop in Salt Lake City demonstrates fly fishing on an indoor trout stream at the Utah Boat, Sports and Travel Show at the Salt Palace. Fish and tackle shops have improved on Izak Walton's claim that time spent fishing cannot be deducted from a man's life. They've found a way to make fishing into a life, complete with salary and expense allowance. The show's promoters went all out to make the stream realistic. The scent from potted pine trees filled the room along with the gurgle of the stream. On another flow, "master caster" Stan Fagerstrom demonstrated bait casting, spin casting, flipping and pitching. Fagerstrom travels to trade shows all over the country to spend all day casting his line over a stream of water.
