A Croydon woman was sentenced Monday to serve up to five years in prison for the Sept. 2 shooting of her fiance.

Second District Judge Rodney Page sentenced Debbie Becker, 32, for her third-degree felony conviction of attempted manslaughter. Becker had been charged with second-degree felony attempted murder, but a Morgan County jury last month found her guilty of the lesser charge. She was convicted of shooting Douglas Carlin, 29, in the couple's Croydon home. Carlin was unable to testify during the two-day trial because he is still recovering from his injuries.

The victim was shot once in the head with a .22-caliber revolver following a domestic dispute in Morgan County.
