Austin M. Gerber, age 62, died Thursday, march 21, 1991 at the Dixie Regional Medical Center.

He was born July 15, 1928 at Wellington, Utah to Irvin Moroni and Emily Aurilla McKee Gerber. He married Viola Marie Wells, December 13, 1952 in the Manti LDS Temple; she preceded him in death Mary 12, 1976. He married Judith Ann Sine, December 2, 1981 in West Jordan, Utah.Reared and educated in Wellington, Utah; Mr. Berger attended BYU and was a graduate of the University of Utah. He lived and worked in Wellington and Fish Springs as a rancher for 30 years. He also taught school in the Granite School District for 17 years. He has lived in Taylorsville and West Jordan came to LaVerkin in 1985 and to St. George in 1988. He loved cattle and ranching and was an avid reader. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. An active member of the LDS Church, he had served a full-time LDS Mission to Arizona, taught Gospel Doctrine class, president of Sunday School and Elder's Quorum.

Surviving family members include his wife, Judy; children and stepchildren, Farley Austin Gerber, Layton; Mrs. Dennis "Teresa" Stupp, West Jordan; Mrs. Jeff "Vauna Lee" Stam and Harlan Shawn Gerber, both of West Valley City; Mrs. Lorin "Deborah" Jensen, Murray; David Haskell, West Valley City; Dwayne Haskell, Hawaii; Douglas Haskell, California; Mrs. Blaine "Danene" Jeffs, Elko, Nevada; Daniel Haskell, Salt Lake City; and Drue Haskell, St. George; 28 grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters, Clinton Gerber, Lehi; Lloyd Gerber, Eagle, Idaho; Walter Seager and Mrs. Elma Golding, both of Lehi; and Mabel Davis, Wellington.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 25, 1991 at 11 a.m. in the West Jordan LDS 44th Ward Chapel, 1861 West 7600 So. Friends may call Saturday evening from 7-8 p.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., and again Sunday evening from 7-8 p.m. at McDougal West Jordan Mortuary, 1861 West 7800 South, and also Monday at the West Jordan LDS 44th Ward Chapel from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the West Jordan City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary with military rites by the American Legion
