Newell Keith Bowman, Sr., our beloved and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on his birthday, March 23, 1991, at the age of 69.

He was born in Delta, Utah to Leon Calvert and Theodosia Leavitt Bowman. He married Jean Anne Watters January 3, 1943 in California. Marriage later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple.Newell served in WW II as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He received his B.S. and M.S. Degrees from the USC and his Doctor of Education from BYU. He was a teacher and administrator in the Los Angeles City School District before retiring after 33 years of service in 1981. He was a faithful member of the LDS Church, a High Priest in the Alpine Sixth Ward. He had served willingly in many church callings.

He had served as an ordinance worker in the Los Angeles Temple and with his wife served an LDS Mission in the Mexico, Mexico City South Mission returning in 1989.

He is survived by his wife and sweetheart of over 48 years, Jean Anne, and their seven children: Newell Jr and wife Robin Bowman, Highland; Darrell and wife Teresa Bowman, Kaysville; Mrs. Don (Denise) Iund, American Fork; Mark and wife Teri Bowman, Orem; Todd and wife Beth Bowman, West Valley City; Lisa Bowman, La Habra, Calif; Mrs. Michael (Tami) Hansen, Salt Lake City. Also 32 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren. Three sisters and a brother: Mrs. Melvin (Phyllis) Dewey; Clawson and wife Eila Mae Bowman; Mrs. George (Helen) Hill; Mrs. Charles (Lena) Spurrier. Preceded in death by a brother, Vern.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. in the Alpine 6th Ward, 901 East Village Way. Friends and family may call at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork, Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday at the Church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment in the Alpine City Cemetery.

The family has deep appreciation for all those who have so readily helped with their love and support.
