West Jordan firefighters inspect damage from a blaze that gutted the living room, kitchen and hall area of a home at 8827 S. 1030 West. The fire started about 5:30 p.m. in the kitchen and burned through the walls and roof, causing $60,000 damage, West Jordan Fire Capt. Ed Larsen said. Firefighters worked for about 15 minutes to control the blaze. The house is near the end of a dirt road, and access to water was limited, Larsen said. Several neighbors helped firefighters drag a 4-inch line attached to a hydrant across a field to the home. "We had about 750 gallons in the truck, but we were running short." No injuries were reported.
