Thane E. Lancaster, 61, of Filer, died Friday, March 22, 1991 at Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto, Calif.

He was born Jan. 23, 1930 in Filer, the son of Ira and Clyde Ruth Sturgill Lancaster. He was reared and educated in Filer. He farmed in Filer until he became involved with the horse business in the mid 1960's. He was co-owner of the largest Equine Sales Co. in the world. He was married to Nadine Savage in Gooding on Dec. 29, 1949.Mr. Lancaster was a director of the A.Q.H.A. for 27 years, and was the first horseman inducted into the Southern Idaho Livestock Hall of Fame. He was a Charter member of the Filer Church of the Nazarine.

In addition to his wife of Filer he is survived by, one son, Terry Lancaster; one daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Bimbo Bivens; two grandsons, Cade Lancaster, Braun Bivens; two granddaughters, Brianna Bivens, Caitlyn Lancaster; his mother, Clyde Ruth Lancaster, all of Filer, Idaho; one sister, Barbara Damon, Rupert, Idaho; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and three brothers.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Filer Church of the Nazarine with Rev. Robert Sturtevant officiating. Interment, Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may call at White Mortuary Wednesday, 3-7 p.m. The family suggests memorials to the Magic Valley Regional Medical Center Cardiac Care Center.
