A guilty plea has been entered by an Ogden man charged with vehicle homicide in the Oct. 24 accident that killed a Weber State University professor.

Jeffrey S. Powell entered his plea Monday before 2nd District Judge Stanton Taylor following plea negotiations. Sentencing was set for April 22.Powell had been charged with second-degree automobile homicide, but in exchange for his guilty plea, the state agreed to drop the charge to a 3rd-degree felony charge and declined to seek a five-year prison term.

The 29-year-old Ogden man was accused of driving drunk when his car collided with one driven by Michael Cousens, 46, Ogden, on a west Weber County road.
