Buford Crawford was born Dec. 19, 1919 in Blue Mountain, Arkansas to John Arthur and Eunie Elritta Loyd Crawford, the ninth of ten children. After several years of suffering with Emphysema and circulation problems, and in recent months of dealing with many other health problems, he died Feb. 28, 1991.

He served in W.W.II and was honorably discharged after serving 4 years in the Army, with two years spent serving in the Aleutian Islands. He later served for 12 years in the Utah Army National Guard. He retired from Tooele Army Depot after 26 years of service, with 2 1/2 years of his service spent working for the Dept. of the Army in Taiwan.Survivors are, wife, Adelia Luane Pierce Crawford; sons, Arthur Kent, Val Dean, and Barry Lamont; daughter, Janae Wootton, all from Salt Lake County; brothers, Alva, Salt Lake City; Austin, Elk City, Oklahoma; and Ira, Sun City, Arizona; sisters, Helen Everly, Greenburg, Kansas; Reva Mathis, Liberal, Kansas; and Miriam Moree, Meade, Kansas; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his son, Narvil Jay; brothers, Charlie and Clyde, and sister, Mamie Lloyd.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 5, 1991 at 11:00 a.m. in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary Chapel, 10600 South 1700 East, Sandy. Friends may call Monday 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, and Tuesday one hour prior to the service in Sandy. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens.
