The Billy Taylor Trio returns to Utah for performances Friday, March 8, in Logan at Utah State University's Chase Fine Arts Center and Saturday, March 9, at the University of Utah's Kingsbury Hall.
Starting time for each is 8 p.m.A noted jazz pianist and composer, Taylor is also an actor, author and teacher, with a doctorate in music. He is the winner of two Peabody Awards and one Emmy and was honored in 1987 with a Jazz Masters Fellowship by the National Endowment for the Arts.
Locally he is known for his appearances with the Utah Symphony and his national radio and television commentaries. He is a strong believer in jazz as "America's classical music, an artistic form uniquely reflecting the process of democracy."
