Esther Louise Ernstsen, age 74, died March 1, 1991 in Salt Lake City.

Born March 12, 1916 in Pueblo, Colorado, a daughter of George W. and Alice Lucille Towns Merritt. Married Charles K. Ernstsen, December 26, 1935 in Salt Lake City. Member Central Christian Church. Moved to Utah with her family at age 7, and lived there since. Graduated from East High School. Spent winters since retirement in Arizona, where she had friends from many parts of the country. Enjoyed camping, fishing and painting. Loved golf and was active in Ladies Golf Association, at Nibley Park and Glendale golf courses.Survived by husband, Salt Lake; two sons, two daughters, Charles D., and Alan M. Ernstsen, both Salt Lake; Mrs. Jack (Charlene) Cook, Danville, Virginia; Mrs. Bob (Nancy A.) Bumbardner, Independence, Missouri; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two brothers, one sister, Louis W. and Dale Merritt, Calif.; Mrs. Jay (Deone) Brinkley, Sunset. Preceded in death by a brother and sister, George Edward Merritt and Mrs. Fred (Lucy) Kammerer.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, 2 p.m., McDougal Golden Rule Funeral Home, 4330 So. Redwood Rd., where friends may call Tuesday 1-2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
