Geri Thompson Mariani, age 61, died March 28, 1991, at her home in Salt Lake City of cardiac arrest.

Born February 19, 1930 in Brigham City, Utah to Roy L. and La Von Stayner Thompson. Graduate of Box Elder High School in Brigham City and University of Utah where she was affiliated with Kappa Kappa Gamma. She married her college sweetheart, Ernest D. Mariani, September 8, 1950 in Brigham City.A Patron of the Arts, Geri served as president of the Board of Young Audiences, Mu Phi Epsilon, and National Youth Music Federation. She was well known for her beautiful singing voice and performed for many years as a soloist. She was currently serving as vice president of the Town Club, and was a member of the Jr. League of Salt Lake City, Salt Lake Country Club and Alta Club.

Survived by her beloved husband, Ernest D. Mariani; children, Michael and Lynne Zimmerman, Leigh and Joel VandenAkker and Dr. Marc and Michelle Mariani; nine grandchildren; her mother, La Von Stayner Thompson, Idaho Falls, Idaho; sister, Sharon Thompson Ward, also Idaho Falls; and brother, Stayner L. Thompson, Brigham City.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, April 2, at 1 p.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1975 South 2300 East. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South. Entombment will be at Sunset Lawn Mausoleum. Donations may be made to University of Utah Development Department Office, in her honor, which will be used to benefit the Music Department.
