Many who register their business name or articles of incorporation with the state are unaware they also must obtain a local business license in the city or county where they operate.

As a result, the Utah Department of Commerce has published The Business Licensing Guide to help reduce confusion faced by those who try to comply with various registration and other requirements imposed by governments at all levels. The guide lists more than 150 local government licensing offices in the state.
