Leading Cougar wrestler, Rick Evans, took the 190-pound WAC title Saturday in Colorado Springs, and the team took fourth place in the championships. Host Air Force won the WAC title, followed by Wyoming.

Evans defeated his opponent Mark Lindow, from Air Force Academy, 5-0 in the finals."Teamwise, we did how we were seated. We were hoping for some upsets, but we didn't get any," Alan Albright, head coach, said.

BYU placed in seven out of 10 weight classes. Don Van Tassell, 134, lost in overtime 6-4 and placed fourth. John Allan, 142, placed fourth. Philip Armstrong, 150, placed fourth. Shane Ford, 158, placed third. Craig Lamont, 167, placed fourth. Wright Noel, 177, came close to winning the WAC title, but lost to Dave Meyers from Wyoming who was named outstanding wrestler.
