A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 7, honoring Geoffrey Hughes, benefactor of arts and conservation causes in Utah and elsewhere.

The service will be conducted in the Holy Cross Chapel, 1050 E. South Temple, by the Rev. M. Francis Mannion of the Cathedral of the Madeleine.Mr. Hughes lived at Snowbird and also maintained homes in England, Jamaica and San Francisco. Besides contributions to such organizations as Ballet West, Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company and San Francisco Opera, he supported the Humane Society, Save the Whales and other conservation programs.

Mr. Hughes, 73, was born in England to American parents. He died of cancer at Sloan-Kettering Hospital in New York on Feb. 27.
