Despite a delay caused by extremely cold weather earlier in the year, the new high school in Layton is getting back on schedule. "We're still on target and things are looking good," said Louenda Downs, Davis School Board vice president. Located at 2200 N. Hill Field Road, the 2,200-student-capacity high school will relieve overcrowding at Layton and Clearfield high schools. Officials hope to open the $28 million facility in time for the 1992-93 school year. Bad weather in December and January delayed construction by more than a month, but crews have been able to make up much of the delay by consolidating various jobs, Downs said. The school's boundaries, name and mascot have yet to be decided.
