Cecil F. Hardcastle, age 86, lifetime resident of Sandy, died Saturday, March 2, 1991, peacefully at his home, of causes incident to age.

He was born January 12, 1905, the fourteenth and last child of Orlando E. and Emma H. Hardcastle. He was a member of the LDS Church, a High Priest in the Sandy Third Ward. Cecil lived a good and honest life, was a good husband and father, and a good neighbor and friend. He will be greatly missed by his loving children and grandchildren, but his passing is an earthly blessing and will be a joyous reunion in Heaven.He retired from the U.S. Smelter, after giving over 50 years of service to the company. In his young life, he was married briefly to Dorothy Williamson and later divorced. He married Grace Maynard, a young widow with eight children in 1930, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had 44 wonderful years together, and she preceded him in death in May, 1974. He was also preceded in death by his 13 brothers and sisters, and two sons, Clifford and Elburn Maynard.

He is survived by Mr. and Mrs. Stanley (Marie Maynard) Griffiths, Lehi, Utah; Mr. and Mrs. Richield (Thelma Maynard) Stevens, Great Falls, Montana; Lila Maynard Chiea, West Jordan, Utah; Iona Maynard Pangos, Sandy, Utah; Mr. and Mrs. Julius (Loa Maynard McConnell) Lawson (Julius is also a nephew), Sandy, Utah; William (Bill) and Shirley Maynard, Murray, Utah; Mrs. Elburn (Lillie) Maynard, Sandy, Utah; 33 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, March 6th, 1 p.m., in the Sandy Third Ward Chapel, 8825 South 150 West, Sandy, Utah. Friends may call Tuesday evening, March 5th, from 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, and on Wednesday at the church from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens, Sandy, Utah.
