Jennie Pearce Sorensen, age 94, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and great-great-great-grandmother, passed away March 1, 1991 at Humana Davis North Hospital surrounded by her loved ones, following a brief illness.
Born September 24, 1896 to Charles Rodwell Pearce and Agnes Hogensen Pearce in Montpelier, Idaho. Married Clarence Ruben Sorensen November 7, 1916 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1978. Her family was the most important part of her life. She had a wonderful talent for sewing and crocheting and left many beautiful mementos of her work with her children and grand-children.She was an active member of the LDS Church in Farmington and held many positions in the various organizations. She and her husband served two terms as stake missionaries at Cherry Hill, Kaysville, Utah. She served as captain of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was employed at Hill Air Force Base during WW II, and later was a summer employee at Lagoon.
She is survived by two sons, five daughters, two daughters-in-law, and one son-in-law, Norma Gwen Vance, Salt Lake City; Hazel S. Werner, Pinedale, Wyo.; Rodney Pearce and Norma Sorensen, Bountiful; Bernice Stevenson, Layton; Frank Pearce and Cheryl Sorensen, Farmington; Beverly J. and William V. (Bill) Stenberg, Los Banos, Calif.; Ann Marie Moss, Salt Lake City; 27 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by two sisters and one brother, Miss Nettie Pearce, Ruth Shelton, and Norman Pearce. She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, two grandsons, and one granddaughter.
Viewing for family and friends will be Monday evening, March 4, from 6-8 p.m., in the Russon Brothers Mortuary, Bountiful, and before the funeral services, Tuesday, March 5, at 9:30 a.m. in the Steed Creek Chapel, Farmington. The funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Interment, will be in the Farmington City Cemetery.
