Mildred Reese Johnson, age 71; died in Sherman Oaks, California of a lingering illness.
Born in Salt Lake City, December 31, 1919 to Lon Woolley and Emma Gillespie Reese. Married Merrill S. Johnson May 25, 1944 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.She is survived by her husband; daughter, Margarent McIntyre of California; and brother, Lester G. Reese, Salt Lake.
At 18 months, she was a member of Vaudeville Troop "Teenie Weenies". Attended Salt Lake schools and the University of Utah. Active in PTA; past president of Hillside Jr. High and secretary of Junior/Senior City Council. Active in LDS Church, MIA Stake and ward boards, member of Monument Park 4th Ward. Life member Utah Associated Garden Clubs where she served as chairman and vice president; member Flora Culture Club; president of Artistic Designers; officer in American Iris Society Region 12; Utah Iris Society, National Secretary of Society for Siberian Iris. Taught at Pioneer Craft House. Well-known lecturer on crafts, flower arranging, and gardening. Member of the American Rose Society and Utah Rose Society. In California she was active in the San Fernando Iris Society, North Hollywood Rose Society, L.A. County Arboretum, and Woodland Hills Artistic Designers. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions be sent to the Sugar House Garden Center in her name.
Graveside services will be held in the Salt Lake City Cemetery on Wednesday, March 6, 1991 at 11 a.m. Funeral directors: Russon Brothers Mortuary.
