Chad Bowles, a deputy in the Juab County Sheriff's Department, has been selected as Nephi City police chief.

He was sworn in by City Attorney Don Eyre Jr. at a City Council meeting Tuesday. Bowles replaces Wayne Hoaldridge, who took a job as police chief in Riverdale.Bowles has been a deputy in the sheriff's office for 13 years and has been in charge of felony investigations. A native of Nephi and a 1970 graduate of Juab High School, Bowles served in the U.S. Army for two years in the military police in drug enforcement.

He is a graduate of POST (Police Officers Standards Training) and also attended Weber State. He worked in security at the Defense Depot in Odgen and served for one year as Santaquin police chief before returning to Nephi to work as a deputy.

"I plan to work in close cooperation with the sheriff's office and the Utah Highway Patrol," said Bowles.
