Queen Elizabeth was bitten by one of her own pet corgis after she tried to stop a savage fight among the royal dogs, a palace spokesman said Tuesday.

The queen was bitten on her left hand during the dogfight at Windsor Castle on Sunday and had to have three stitches in her wound, the spokesman said. The Sun newspaper said 10 dogs were involved, including two belonging to the Queen Mother.The Queen Mother's chauffeur, John Collins, was also bitten when he tried to break up the fight. He was given a tetanus injection in hospital while other staff separated the scrapping hounds and helped the queen back inside the castle.
