Payson Police and fire officials are still investigating the cause of a fire Monday morning.
According to Payson Police dispatchers, crews were called at approximately 6 a.m. to the scene of a fire in an apartment at 29 E. 100 South. Crews were unable to save the apartment but did rescue the apartment's occupant, an adult male. Also, crews were able to keep the blaze from spreading to any nearby structures.The occupant, whose identity has not been released, was taken to Mountain View Hospital for smoke inhalation and was checked for other possible injuries and then released.
The apartment was gutted, though the damage has not yet been estimated.
