Utah's Mikki Kane and Karen Alcorn have been named to the women's all-conference basketball first team in the Western Athletic Conference. Utah's Tanya Zachary was a second-team selection.

The team was announced Monday with San Diego State's Kleishsha Garnes being honored as Player of the Year. Creighton University's Bruce Rasmussen was named Coach of the Year.Kane, a 6-foot sophomore forward, averaged 12.5 points per game during the regular season but 17.5 during WAC play. Alcorn led the Utes in season scoring with a 15.8 average.

BYU failed to place a player on the first two squads but did have three make honorable mention - Lisa Rathbun (junior), Kim Talbot (junior) and Lisa White (junior). Utah had two on the honorable mention list - Brenda Alcorn (senior) and Melanie Brooks-McQueen (senior).
