While other westbound traffic moves on by, a truck-trailer toppled by high winds, lies alongside 2100 South at 400 West. Wind gusts hit approximately 70 mph in at least one area of the Salt Lake Valley Monday afternoon. A Utah Highway Patrol dispatcher said she had no details but that she believed no one was injured and that only property damage resulted when the truck-trailer overturned about 3:30 p.m. National Weather Service forecaster Jim Pringle said the wind was expected to decrease to about 10 to 20 mph in some areas by late Tuesday afternoon, but a high-wind warning was issued for the mountains and southwest valleys, except in the St. George area. The chance of measurable precipitation was 80 percent Tuesday, decreasing to 50 percent Tuesday night and 30 percent Wednesday in the Salt Lake, Ogden and Provo areas. An avalanche warning remains for the northern Utah mountains from Spanish Fork Canyon north to the Utah-Idaho border.
