Weber State University's department of performing arts will play host to an Invitational Jazz Festival Saturday, March 9, in the Browning Center for the Performing Arts.

The day's activities will climax with a concert by the WSU Jazz Ensemble at 7:30 p.m. in the Austad Auditorium. Guest artist will be bassist Lou Fischer, currently touring with the Bill Watrous Quartet. Earlier that day Fischer will present two rhythm-section clinics.Groups invited to perform at the festival include jazz ensembles from Bountiful, Cottonwood, Granger, Kearns, Mountain Crest, Mountain View, Murray and Tooele high schools. They will play from noon to 6 p.m.
