A federal judge refused to release Jim Bakker on bail while the TV evangelist awaits resentencing for fleecing his followers.

U.S. District Judge Graham Mullen, who was assigned to the case after an appeals court ruled that the judge who originally sentenced Bakker had been influenced by his own religious beliefs, said Bakker might flee if released.Mullen on Wednesday cited Bakker's "demonstrated susceptibility to aberrant behavior" in denying bail.

Last month, a federal appeals court upheld Bakker's conviction on fraud and conspiracy but overturned the 45-year prison sentence imposed by U.S. District Judge Robert Potter. Mullen set resentencing for April 25.
