Arraignment of a Layton woman facing four life prison sentences on drug charges has been delayed one week as her defense attorney continues to work on a plea negotiation.

Becky E. Trujillo, 31, was scheduled to enter a plea on five drug charges Tuesday in 2nd District Court.Defense attorney Stephen Oda told Judge Douglas L Cornaby he has been working on a plea negotiation with prosecutor Bill McGuire from the Davis County attorney's office. McGuire is out of town and the judge agreed to continue the arraignment one week.

Trujillo is charged with three counts of distribution of cocaine last summer to undercover agents of the county's drug strike force. The charges are normally second-degree felonies, which carry prison terms of one to 15 years.

Three of the charges were bumped up to first-degree felonies, which carry prison terms of five years to life, because the transactions occurred within 1,000 feet of a school.

A fourth charge, arranging for the sale of cocaine, is enhanced to a first-degree felony because Trujillo has a prior drug conviction, according to court records.
