James Wilkinson Eckersley, 94, passed away March 5, 1991 at his home due to natural causes.

Born February 21, 1897 in Loa, Utah to Joseph and Sarah Ellen Wilkinson Eckersley. Married Evadna Dastrup, September 15, 1920 in Manti LDS Temple; she died October 14, 1957. Married Leona Heath Covington, June 2, 1958, in Salt Lake City; she died September 28, 1983. Member LDS Church and was active in various positions. Past Commander World War I Murray Barracks #3089. At the time of his death, was Deputy in the National World War I Veterans Of The United States Of America.Survived by sons and daughters, Maurel "Mark" Dastrup Eckersley and wife, Dorothy; Arlene Jensen and husband, Royle; Joseph "Joe" Eckersley and wife, Janice; Norma Rosvall and husband, Vernon, all of Salt Lake City; Evadna Ann Barber, Rosemead, California; brother, Hyrum Wilkinson Eckersley; sister, Daisy Hermine Ritchie; 17 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, James Wilkinson Eckersley, Jr.

Funeral services Saturday, March 9, 12 noon, Murray 17th Ward, 6300 South 300 East. Friends may call Friday 6-8 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State, and Saturday, 11-11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment: Wasatch Lawn.
