Brush Wellman Inc. has reached a safety milestone in its Utah operation. Mining and milling employees in Millard and Juab counties recorded 1 million man-hours of work without incurring a lost-time accident.

The achievement was hailed by Donald J. McMillan, director of Utah operations. The operation has a staff in Utah of 100 employees, so the million-hour mark represents an average of 10,000 accident-free man hours for each employee. That represents about five years per employee without a lost-time accident.

Brush Wellman mines and processes feed material for the fabrication of beryllium metal, alloys and ceramics.
