The U.S. Department of Labor will give Utah $775,000 to help former employees of Eastern Airlines who lost their jobs at the Salt Lake Reservation Center when Eastern shut down in January.

Approval for the funds allows the immediate expenditure of $225,000 with a progress review and subsequent final funding approval in April that will make the final total $775,000. State officials estimate 250 of the 760 affected workers can be served with the grant.Former Eastern Airlines employees who want more information about the grant can contact the Salt Lake County Division of Job Training and Development, 468-3248.
