John Reu Leak, 79, died March 7, 1991 in Salt Lake City.
Born November 11, 1911 in South Jordan, Utah to William John and Esther Pearson Leak. Married Mary Lott in Great Falls, Montana on July 2, 1938; later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Graduated from Jordan High School, attended Utah State Agricultural College and University of Utah. Worked in mines in Park City, employed 40 years by Utah Idaho Sugar Company, where he was company comptroller in Salt Lake City at the time of his retirement. Active in civic affairs in Toppenish, Wash.; including school board and hospital board. High Priest in the LDS Church, served in many capacities. Loved yard work, family, European travel, reading and BYU sports.Survived by wife; two daughters, Sandra Bond, Rexburg, Idaho; Margaret Sales, Perpingnan, France; one son, William John, Kansas City, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence, West Jordan; Ken, Seattle, Wash.; three sisters, Ruby Smith, Salt Lake City; Ramona Rasmussen, Draper; and Irene Schmidt, Ogden.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 11, at 11 a.m. in the Cottonwood 16th Ward Chapel, 1750 East Spring Lane, in Holladay. Viewing Sunday evening 6-8 p.m. at MacKay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Drive, and Monday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment at Lehi, Utah Cemetery.
