Eleven people were killed in Chicago over the weekend in an outburst of violence that authorities blamed in part on warm weather.

"It just brought gunmen out of the woodworks," police spokesman Robert Cook said.The 11 were slain and seven wounded in a variety of incidents on Saturday and Sunday, including attempted robberies, arguments and drive-by shootings. Temperatures were in the 70s.
